In November 2005 a tiny hamlet in the heart of the Cotswolds was overrun by snarling hounds. Nisa Ward was out with her elderly neighbour. A deer hurtled out of the woods pursued by the baying pack. As the villagers stood there helplessly the deer was caught. It screamed piteously as the dogs ripped it apart.
Following a further intrusion Nisa and other members of the hamlet, led by the formidable Jeanne Berry, managed to get an Asbo (anti-social behaviour) warning issued to the three hunt masters. But it didn’t stop there. They felt that the beauty of the beech woods surrounding their homes had been forever tainted.
Shocked by her own experience and appalled to discover the number of horrific hunt-related incidents affecting ordinary members of the public all over the country Nisa is making this film to expose the devastating human cost of hunting.
“Like most people I supported a ban on hunting but I would never have become involved in any campaign against it until this happened to me. I want the public to know what’s happening and to see it. We will be filming over the winter season and into the spring, they can follow the story on our website, see the film and judge for themselves.”
